A Recap On What I Wore To MFW Events

What a week! It seems like a month ago looking back at what I wore to Media Monday at The Lab to kick off Memphis Fashion Week. The week was full of events and gatherings where I was able to socialize with all sorts of fashion insiders and bloggers in the Memphis area. I didn’t have time to shoot each outfit for its own blog post since I was focused on getting ready for my big styling job back stage but I was able to snap a picture or two!

Monday: Media Day at The Lab
We got a sneak peak or some EMDP designs and showed off The Lab. It was a first for many guests to visit The Lab and really learn was Memphis Fashion Design Network is about.
The Breakdown:
I wasn’t sure how I felt about wearing white shoes and a white bag but I like how both looked with the top. I like the bag with the top and the shoes with the top but not the bag and shoes together. This top is new and I just love the print. It’s so fun and has a lot of movement in it. It’s actually a bodysuit, because of that I needed high waisted jeans. I planned on wearing other jeans but I grabbed my highest waist and made it work. Looking at the picture I wish my jeans were higher and skinnier. I’ll note that for next time I wear this shirt :)

Tuesday we had a day to relax. Wednesday was the Kick Off Party and Trunk Show which I took Myles too. Thank goodness I had my friends to help hold him because he is getting very heavy. Plus, I wanted to do a little shopping. I bought a necklace and earrings from Leslie Ponder Studios. Her stuff is amazing and it was so hard to choose only a few pieces! I don’t have a picture of what I wore Wednesday and I honestly can’t even remember what I wore!

Thursday: Chickasaw Oaks Preview Party
I love Chickasaw Oaks, it’s so charming on the inside and has the cutest shops. Here is where we were able to have a sneak peak at some of the EMDP designs. Models, designers, friends and family were in attendance. The earrings I am wearing here are the ones I bought Wednesday at the Trunk Show.
The Breakdown:
How amazing is it that I am wearing sweatpants? I bet you were expecting them to be jeans. I love that they looks like jeans because they are frayed at the bottom but are actually sweatpants and they are comfy enough to sleep in! I was at Forever 21 earlier in the day to pick up a fanny pack to put my styling essentials in and I saw this blush velvet top. It looks like much higher quality than $15 and is very on trend at the moment which is why I had no problem buying it for $15. It’s best not to splurge on trendy pieces, save the splurges for classics like a leather jacket or a good pair of jeans. Here are these shoes again, the most comfortable pair ever. I seriously want to wear them with everything. Luckily, I am realizing I have more to go with them than I originally thought!

Friday: Nicole Miller Luncheon
The Breakdown:

I was really excited to dress up for this luncheon. Not only was I going to be meeting Nicole Miller, I was hanging out with the majority of my Memphis friends in the day time during Memphis Fashion Week. It was the perfect set up to dress up. I chose to wear this edgy yet feminine Self-Portrait top and wide leg culottes. I have had these cut out heels for quite a few years and I knew they would be perfect with these pants the second I tried them on.  More details on this in another post!

top | Self-Portrait  “Cold Shoulder Top"
pants |  from 20twelve
shoes | Aquzzura
earrings | Leslie Ponder “White Trio Drops"
bracelet | Aurelie Bidermann “Esteban Cuff
Here is one of my groups of friends that was at the luncheon. They weren’t able to make it to the fashion shows but I was really happy they came to the luncheon to support MFDN.

Friday Night: Featured Designers Fashion Show
Night one of Memphis Fashion Week in the books. After the show was over I popped out to say hi to my friends. There was a lot of cleaning up to do backstage but I had been back there since 7:30am and at 10:30pm if felt nice to change the subject and relax for a bit. I had told you about my fanny pack. Isn’t this one cute? It fit fashion tape, safety pins, my mini lint roller and my cell phone! You can see details on this outfit in my next post which is from The Ivory Closet. I did put on a cute pair of heels for a little bit of the night but for the majority of my working hours I had these awesome sneakers on.

Live votre rêve!

Thank you Kim Thomas of KP Fusion for taking these pictures!
